About the Author
Rosie Banks spent her childhood dreaming of magical creatures and faraway places, so it was natural that she grew up to write a series of stories where such dreams came true! As a child, her ultimate ambition was to ride a unicorn. She hasn't managed that yet, but she does have a pony named Flip and cute puppies named Moony and Max.

This Series Just Keeps Getting Better

My seven year old daughter is a voracious reader. She reads pretty much anything, but she particularly like stories that include princesses and/or fairies. When I found this book while perusing through the children's book section here on Amazon, I knew this is one that she would enjoy...and I was right! The story that unfolds is enchanting and very enjoyable. My daughter told me all about it. LOL The series is about three little girls who find magical box that whisks them away to a Secret Kingdom where there are witches, pixies, and other magical creatures.
As with most stories involving magic kingdoms, there is an evil queen who wishes to overthrow the current King Merry so she can rule over the Secret Kingdom. To that end she inserts six thunderbolts, each of which will allow her to wreak havoc within the kingdom. In each story in the series, Ellie, Summer, and Jasmine are called upon to help retrieve a different thunderbolt and thwart the evil Queen's machinations. FYI the other books in the series are; Secret Kingdom #1: Enchanted Palace, Secret Kingdom #2: Unicorn Valley, Secret Kingdom #4: Mermaid Reef, Secret Kingdom #5: Magic Mountain, and Secret Kingdom: 6: Glitter Beach. In this third story, Jasmine, Ellie, and Summer once again travel to the Secret Kingdom to help their friends ward of the evil Queen Malice. The Queen has installed one of her deadly thunderbolts in Cloud Island--an island in the clouds. If they don't get the thunderbolt out in time, Cloud Island will be torn apart; for good!
All the SECRET KINGDOM books are well written; each story is original and fun and includes a number of beautiful black and white illustrations interspersed throughout. The recommended reading age is 7 - 10; grades 2 - 5. My daughter is now in Second Grade; she is able to read these chapters book completely independent of any assistance. She's read and loved all six books in the series, which she described as "awesome." LOL This series is perfect for any any child who loves magic, fairies, and princesses--my daughter literally read each of these books in an afternoon in order to fulfill her reading log homework requirement. It's her favorite part of the day!

A fun read!

This is an interesting story. Rosie painted a vivid realm in the Cloud Island. The readers would be amazed by the fictitious way of how clouds and rains are made. The fluffy cloud bunnies were so cute. The way our heroines saved the day and destroyed the thunderbolt was innovative and the book was a fun read! Rosie triggered the young readers' imagination and they could only long for the experience that our heroines enjoyed when they bounced on the trampoline clouds!

Fun, intriguing, magical

I like that the girls work together to find an inventive way to overcome problems to save the day. My daughter is in first grade and we found the first two books of the series at the school book fair. They are a great way to get her twenty minutes of reading everyday. She looks forward to reading to me before bed. They are the perfect level for her to read one or two chapters per night and she said she would recommend them to her friends.
